2024 Annual Summary | Searching and Reflecting on the Past

Time really flies. I remember celebrating the Spring Festival last year~~ or was it the last time (not really)~~. The most important gain this year should be that I have learned a lot of new technologies and knowledge, and I have also connected with various experts in different fields. Therefore, I would like to thank them in this article for helping me learn a lot in areas where I should have researched beforehand, and for helping me clarify some paths for myself.

Currently, on this path, although there have been many bumps, overall it has developed positively. There are still some obstacles, but they have mostly been overcome. I just hope that by 2025, I can maintain the current state, and of course, it would be even better if things could develop a bit more positively.

In 2024, I also cultivated some new hobbies, the main one being videography. I really didn't expect that some of my friends are also into videography. Although I am at a beginner level, they are willing to help me with some shooting details and even taught me how to color grade and such (I even bought a color meter for this, oh my). At least the path to getting started won't be too difficult.

Of course, this is just a rough introduction, but there are still a few small parts I want to explain, roughly like this.

Learning#

This year, I mainly learned a lot of technology stacks~~ I heard that doing projects is a great way to learn~~. I have thoroughly understood the front-end trio, and also developed with UNIAPP, which is the thing I disliked the most this year. I couldn't do well with the tutorials, and things that run on H5 display differently on the APP. It's so frustrating, many things feel like they are from the Vue2 era. In Go development, I learned a lot of new tools, such as designing battle servers based on Go / high concurrency server design / and learned a bit about streaming and other random stuff~~ caused by taking orders~~. I also took the time to study machine learning, which still requires a solid foundation in mathematics. This part needs more practice, and the learning process was not very smooth, so I still need to work hard.

In the future, I want to delve into deep learning, which seems to have a very promising job outlook. I hope to achieve my goals, and I still need to keep pushing myself. This year, I have met enough experts, including well-known figures in business and famous people in open-source projects. I really admire their skills and have learned a lot from their experiences. Perhaps I should find some time to design the direction I want to take. Without them, I wouldn't know what to do or learn in the future.

Work#

I didn't expect that I have become a corporate slave, taking on more small orders. I am indeed busy, and I have learned a lot. Many things require my own consideration, such as whether xx design can be obtained by xxx methods. I have to indirectly study what the other party might do to break the design protocol, and I have researched many prevention strategies and methods, which can be considered a bit of offense and defense (?), and I have indirectly come into contact with CTF.

Most of the orders are good, and I submit them on time. With the pocket money I earned from these, I bought some things I wanted, and by the end of the year, I had bought quite a few things for myself, which made me very happy.

The thing that impressed me the most this year was learning about the Cursor tool. AI + Editor is truly an amazing design, and it made me feel the brightest aspect of AI for the first time. Sonnet is currently the best model I think, ChatGPT is garbage, it feels worth every penny.

I don't know what more amazing things AI will show me in the future. This might be the first time I felt the power of AI in productivity.

Friendship/Socializing#

This year's socializing mainly revolved around connecting with open-source experts. After all, I had already dealt with my social circle last year, needing to eliminate a certain element (it took me a long time, and in the end, someone helped me kick out a large portion, for which I am grateful). Seeing those annoying things every day is just that (huh? / what the hell?), so it's better to keep my distance; it's really not a place for people.

Taking X as an example, the current feed has basically turned into music games + recommendations for certain open-source projects + artists' illustrations, along with some keyword filters I added. It's great; at least I won't see blood maps + crazy posts while scrolling.

As for socializing, this year it also started to develop offline. Thanks to music games, I met a group of like-minded friends locally, and I can usually play new games with them. I also celebrated last year's Spring Festival with them, which was very enjoyable (including UNO with +18 cards, hhhhhhh). Now, I plan to see if we can gather more during the New Year, as in a year or two, it will be hard to see them again.

In school, although I really dislike the group in my class, I have also gotten to know many friends from the lab and those who play music games. I feel that interacting with them gives us more common topics to explore, and occasionally we can play L4D2 or go out for some barbecue, which is quite pleasant xwx.

Online, I have met some people in the open-source circle, including some quite capable individuals in different fields, as well as some big UP owners. I really didn't expect that I could connect with them, how nice~!

Miscellaneous#

Games#

This year, I mainly focused on the Steam army. However, to make up for the regrets of high school, I exchanged my old Switch Lite for a Switch OLED (but after buying it, three months later, news of the Switch 2 came out, feeling like I joined the army in '49). I bought some series I hadn't played before, such as Kirby and Super Smash Bros., and the experience was still great.

As for Steam, let me see what I bought...? P5R, this is the best game I played this year. I was very envious of it in high school, but I only got to play it this year. Sigh.

Another one is that this year's Arcaea successfully reached 12.0 PTT ~. Oh my, I've been playing this game for almost three years, and it's not easy, xwx. Rotaeno also reached 16.0, although I just achieved it a few days ago, but I'm still 0.8 away from the theoretical PTT. I wonder if I can reach that level next year x.

The game that surprised me the most this year is Black Myth: Wukong? When this game was first announced, I didn't have high hopes (to be honest, I have hardly seen any top-tier AAA games from China; most are innovative small studio games), but I still pre-ordered it on the last day, and I didn't expect the quality to be surprisingly good. Moreover, this is the first AAA masterpiece from our country in the past two years that doesn't have LGBTQ+ elements (can DEI just disappear?). At least at that price, I personally think it's worth every penny, and it is also the first AAA masterpiece from our country. I hope more games of similar quality can emerge in the future.

Another one is that Rainbow Six can be streamed now?? Old news finally passed the review, and in the future, there will be no more roundabout ways with the super admin, xwx.

Music#

This year, I bought a Shuiyueyu MIAD 1, yes, the 5G HIFI mobile wireless terminal, which is indeed a very gimmicky product, very funny. So I got one back as a backup machine at a very low price (1300) in the seafood market. How should I put it? If it sells for 2499, it's definitely not worth it; if it sells for 1000+, then it is indeed a worthwhile product.

Previously, I liked using TWS + Sony, and the only two headphones I could plug in were those. However, after trying it out, I feel that the small tail's resolution is still very limited, so I still use LDAC (at least I don't have to drag such a long wire to listen to music).

About something that impressed me#

What impressed me the most might be this (Video)[https://www.bilibili.com/video/BV16n2VYfEKh], it's so funny, family.

It seems there isn't much that has impressed me this year xwx.

About devices#

This year, I also bought a MateBook E Go 2023 as my second laptop. This is an ARM laptop, but it is very lightweight and has an absurdly strong battery life.

However, I plan to try switching to an MBA next year, as I might need to use XCode, so it's also an opportunity to try out the Apple ecosystem x.

About 2025#

Time really flies, in just a few days it will be 2025.

I hope that my future self can become stronger, and I also look forward to meeting more like-minded friends in 2025!~
